Project Overview
Piktochart is a visual communication platform that helps people turn complex information into engaging visuals, from infographics and presentations to charts and reports. I joined the team as an augmented Senior Product Designer, working closely with the UX Head and Senior Product Manager to improve several key parts of the product experience.
My work focused on three areas of the product: the pricing experience, onboarding and the core editor. Each had a different challenge.
Helping users understand which plan was right for them, collecting the right information during onboarding, and making visualisation tools like charts and colour selection easier to use.
Working within an established SaaS product also meant designing within an existing ecosystem rather than starting from scratch.
I had to understand the existing patterns, identify where the experience could be improved and work within the team's broader product and design direction.
My Contributions
I joined Piktochart as an augmented Senior Product Designer, working closely with the UX Head and Senior Product Manager across several areas of the product.
Coming into an established product team meant quickly understanding their existing UX flows, design system and ways of working before making changes.
I worked on the redesign of the pricing page, focusing on making the different plans and their value easier to understand and helping users make more informed decisions. I also worked on the onboarding experience, introducing user roles to better understand who was using Piktochart and what they were trying to accomplish.Within the editor, I worked on improving the chart experience and colour selection tools.
These were more complex interactions within an already feature-rich product, so I paid close attention to different use cases, edge cases and screen sizes while keeping the experience intuitive.Throughout the engagement, I worked closely with the UX Head, Senior Product Manager and wider UX team, iterating on designs through feedback and design reviews.
I also documented design rationale and explored different scenarios to make sure the proposed solutions addressed more than just the obvious happy path.
