HomeBoxx

Mobile App      |     Norway
Project Overview
Homeboxx is a smart delivery box designed to make home deliveries safer, more flexible and less dependent on someone being home to receive them.

I worked on the digital experience that connects the physical box with its users, allowing them to monitor and control the device through a mobile app.

The experience needed to bridge the gap between physical and digital interactions. Users could share a secure one-time passcode with delivery drivers, allowing them to access the box and safely leave a delivery inside.

The code would automatically expire and reset after a short period, adding another layer of security.

For temperature-sensitive deliveries, the app also allowed users to adjust the box temperature, making it possible to safely receive products such as groceries and other goods that need to be kept within a certain temperature range.

Homeboxx's hardware was designed with insulation and optional active heating/cooling to support these use cases. This meant designing more than a typical mobile app. Every interaction had to reflect what was happening with the physical device, from opening the box and managing access to monitoring activity and controlling its temperature.
My Contributions
I worked on the UX/UI of the Homeboxx mobile experience, focusing on how users could manage their physical delivery box through the app.A key part of the experience was access management.

I designed the flow for generating and sharing one-time secure codes with delivery drivers, making it easy for users to give temporary access without compromising the security of their box. The experience also needed to communicate when access had been used and keep users informed through the activity history.

I also worked on temperature controls, allowing users to adjust the box based on the requirements of their deliveries. This meant translating a physical capability of the hardware into an interface that was simple enough for everyday users to understand.

Beyond individual features, I worked on the broader device-management experience, including viewing different Homeboxx units, accessing device options and understanding what was happening with the box through its activity log.Because the product combined software and hardware, I had to think beyond the screen.

Actions in the app had real-world consequences, so states, feedback and edge cases were particularly important to making the experience feel predictable and trustworthy.
As Product Designer, I worked on the mobile experience that connected Homeboxx's physical hardware with its users.

My role covered UX/UI design, user flows, interaction design, prototyping and designing the different states needed to represent real-world interactions with the device.

I had to think about the relationship between what users did in the app and what happened physically — whether that meant generating temporary access, opening the box, changing its temperature or reviewing previous activity.
